Halloween is almost here and we are starting to see new Halloween props hit the shelves at select retailers around the country. Yesterday I was wandering around Lowes and noticed they had gotten rid of most of their summer stuff and had gone all in on Halloween. One of the first things I saw was the 2018 Werewolf Greeter Prop.
Check out the video below.
There’s a lot to like with the animatronic werewolf from Lowes such as the way his head and mouth move when he is making sounds. The Lowes werewolf also sounds pretty fierce too. As soon as you come near he starts growling and howling at you, as if he just turned. At just over six foot tall the prop is pretty imposing and looks like a werewolf with big pointy teeth (the better to eat you with my dear…)
The one thing I don’t like, and I feel like I’m a broken record at this point is the green eyes. I absolutely hate Halloween props that have the cheesy colored lights in their eyes. I will give them credit for one thing, at least they aren’t red like most props. If you are like me and hate the silly lights you can always clip the wires inside the head cavity.
At $149.99 you are getting a slightly better than average Halloween animated prop if you’d decide to pull the trigger on the werewolf. As we get closer to Halloween the price point will start to drop as Lowes tends to drop the price by 20-30% the week before Halloween. Typically the weekend before Halloween they will reduce their animatronics to 50% off and you can usually get some good deals. However, if you are waiting to pick the props up at half price you are rolling the dice. I got several emails last November when people went to Lowes and Home Depot looking to get some props at a great price. Unfortunately someone had beat them to it. If you really like a prop snag it when it goes 30% off. By the time the price is reduced by half there is a good chance someone else is waiting on a sale like you.
