This morning while browsing through Facebook I stumbled across Eville J’s Creepy Closet. I started looking through some of the photos and noticed they had a ton of really cool Halloween masks. After digging a little deeper I saw one of the coolest alien props I had ever seen, Iven The Great.
According to Jim Brown, the owner of Eville J’s Creepy Closet Iven was initially made as a mask for his son several years ago. Despite only producing a few masks Jim decided that instead of re-sculpting the mold he would make it into a self standing full front and back character.
Jim loves old science fiction movies and wanted to make something that was a little old school and a cross between Mars Attacks and Spaced Invaders. He also wanted to base if off the original cyclops, one eyed Iven character. Iven The Great is a fun little guy who is quickly becoming Eville J’s Creepy Closet’s shop mascot.
In a sea of zombie, clown and werewolf props every October Iven The Great is refreshing and really stands out. What I love about the prop is the fact that he’s a little scary but he’s also kid friendly. Most Halloween props are rated PG-13 to R and aren’t really suited for small children. Iven The Great might be scary but he’s also a prop that I believe kids can enjoy. Iven might have sharp teeth but he isn’t going to bite you. He might even threaten to shoot you with his ray gun but we all know Iven won’t actually pull the trigger.
Iven The Great comes with a stand and is 43 inches tall. Until the end of March he’s on sale for $300 and comes with a free ray gun. The cape is an additional $45 (which I think is a great addition to the prop) and shipping costs will vary depending on which part of the country you are in.
