If you want terrifying, I think I have something right up your alley. Strolling through the trade show floor at Transworld Halloween 2022, I heard something like a wild banshee coming from the back part of the convention center. Naturally, my curiosity got the best of me and I stumbled into the Hazard Room Studios booth where I found the extremely-spooky Dark Mistress. There is a reason she’s not called the “Friendly Mistress”. This prop is downright terrifying and one of my favorite pneumatic Halloween props that I had the pleasure of seeing in St. Louis.
If you aren’t familiar with the Dark Mistress from Hazard Room Studios, I implore you to check out the following video.
I know what you are thinking. Sure, she looks scary, but she isn’t going to make you scream. Well, you have to take into consideration that the lighting at the trade show isn’t like you will find at a haunted attraction. There were a lot of lights. In the right setting, with very little lights and possibly a strobe light, I think the Dark Mistress could be a huge hit! Can you imagine walking through a pitch black room when all of a sudden you hear the shrill sounding screaming followed by the undead lady jumping out at you? Oh man!
At $2,499 the Dark Mistress isn’t cheap. But that’s why she costs so much. She isn’t cheaply made. When you compare her to other props from Transworld, she’s actually reasonably priced considering some of the other pneumatic props there ran in to the $5,000 range.
