Halloween is getting closer and closer and now that we are only four months away Spirit Halloween is starting to slowly roll out their 2018 collection. We’ve seen them introduce Michael Myers, Sweet Dream and a few others that are returning from previous years. This weekend Spirit sent out an email announcing the return of Deadly Roots, an animatronic tree from last year.

Check out the video below.

I have to be honest. The first time I ever saw Deadly Roots I wasn’t impressed. I saw him on the Spirit Halloween website and watched a Youtube video. My first thoughts were, ‘Ok, it’s a talking tree. That’s not very scary’. I dismissed the prop and didn’t think much about him. However, once I saw him in a Spirit Halloween store and got a look at the animated tree up close I changed my position. Spirit Halloween’s website say that Deadly Roots is for indoor use only. Blah, blah, blah… I think if it’s really dark outside and you have him set up in the yard it could scare the crap out of some people.

Deadly Roots is 6.5 feet tall and is passable as a tree if there isn’t a lot of light outside. If you set him up in the middle of your yard and someone happens to walk by it could work very well.

The only drawback for me is the price. At $199.99 Deadly Roots is pretty expensive. Typically you can find a 20% off coupon through their mailing list and that will bring the price down to $160 or so. You will have to pay for shipping as well as another $20 since the prop is considered an oversized item.

Currently Deadly Roots is available on SpiritHalloween.com. It is however only available for pre-order. If you do decided to pull the trigger the prop will be shipped in mid-September so you will have it in plenty of time for Halloween.
